The techniques of Shibori capture time by physically embodying the process and passage of time through intricate stitching and binding of fabric before dyeing.&nbsp; Handstitching creates unique patterns that are shaped by the duration and intensity of the process.&nbsp; Each fold, twist, and stitch marks a deliberate act frozen in time, reflecting the artist's engagement with the material and their surroundings at that precise moment. The ripples that fan out across the mirrored surface of the lake, from the gentle impact of raindrops, an essence of anticipation and suspense. The tension of the first drop falling breaking the mirrored surface of the lake is ma, as are the spaces inbetween each wave rippling across the lake. Each expanding wave carries with it the silent promise of movement and change, merging into one another creating tension and connection between each wave, in the otherwise serene stillness. For the raindrop to then merge and become one with the body of water. In this space of contemplative void, the delicate interplay between presence and absence is felt. A necessary pause that allows us to integrate our experiences and emotions. Giving life the space it needs to breathe. Within this delicate balance, we create opportunities for reflection, letting suppressed emotions and overlooked truths gently rise to the surface. This delicate balance fosters growth and insight, reconnecting us to our entirety. It prevents our perception and emotions from becoming fragmented and separated from the whole. This project explores sustainable alternatives with a specific emphasis on replacing ocean plastics with bioplastic options. The objective is to assess the viability of ingredients as sustainable and biodegradable alternatives for production by using materials derived from the ocean such as agar, which is made from red algae (seaweed) in combination with variable amounts of glycerine and gelatin mixed with water. Through documented experimentation, variables such as concentrations, ratios, and processing methods are explored to achieve desired properties, including color vibrancy, texture, and durability. The dyes are created from natural materials: The shades of greens used in this project are derived from chlorophyll. Chlorophyll is a green pigment found in plants and algae, including marine phytoplankton. It harnesses light energy for photosynthesis. The shades of blue are derived from Spirolina. Spirolina, a type of cyanobacteria often referred to as blue-green algae, serves as a primary producer in the ocean, contributing to the generation of organic matter. <img width="3840" height="5760" Recycled cotton sourced from old bedsheets and tablecloths provided a sustainable foundation for exploration. To extend the boundaries of experimentation, silk organza was introduced, offering a new dimension to the creative process. The size of each project are most approximately 140 x 170 cm with the exception of the red silk which is 120x 120 cm. The recycled cotton bedsheets underwent a tie-dyeing process to address the inherent unevenness associated with pot dyeing. preservation. Birch/Betula Bark (Birkibörkur) is esteemed for its potential anti-inflammatory and antiseptic qualities in herbal medicine. Responsible harvesting practices ensure sustainable bark regeneration, maintaining the availability of this medicinal resource.&nbsp;Weld (Reseda luteola) and black tea (Camellia sinensis) both hold potential medicinal qualities, albeit with distinct characteristics. Weld, historically utilized as a dye plant, is attributed with diuretic, laxative, and anti-inflammatory properties due to its flavonoid content, yet scientific validation remains limited.
