The project then commenced with the creation of a color catalog, featuring samples of combinations at concentrations of 4%, 0.8%, and 0.2%. These blends were then combined to offer a spectrum of color options, serving as a versatile resource for selecting harmonious color schemes. These have been collected into a folder with recipes which I can share should anyone be interested (just send me an email).
Following the initial stages, materials were carefully selected to commence experimentation. Recycled cotton sourced from old bedsheets and tablecloths provided a sustainable foundation for exploration. To extend the boundaries of experimentation, silk organza was introduced, offering a new dimension to the creative process. The size of each project are most approximately 140 x 170 cm with the exception of the red silk which is 120x 120 cm. The recycled cotton bedsheets underwent a tie-dyeing process to address the inherent unevenness associated with pot dyeing. Employing a ratio of 5:5 at 0.8% concentration, a blend of Gulb 4 and Special Blau dyes was applied.
